The following table lists the maintained Puppet, Puppet Server, and PuppetDB versions along with projected end of life (EOL) dates.
As of February 2025, Perforce develops and supports Puppet Core as a proprietary product at the version 7 and 8 levels. Because Perforce no longer develops or supports open source Puppet, all versions of open source Puppet are EOL. However, users of open source Puppet can continue to engage with the Puppet Community to develop the product.

Upgrading from Puppet 7 to Puppet 8.10.0 or earlier
Before upgrading from Puppet 7 to Puppet 8.10.0 or earlier, review the following guidelines and changes so that you can plan your upgrade accordingly. -
Upgrading from open source Puppet to Puppet Core
To help ensure a smooth transition from open source Puppet to Puppet Core, upgrade from open source Puppet 8.10.0 to Puppet Core 8.11.0. These two product versions are nearly identical, so an upgrade is possible without significant post-upgrade adjustments. However, if you select a different upgrade path, or you customized your open source Puppet infrastructure, you might have to introduce additional adjustments. -
Experimental features
Released versions of Puppet can include experimental features to be considered for adoption but that are not yet ready for production. These features need to be tested in the field before they can be considered safe, and therefore are turned off by default. -
